Marketing Intern (For College Credit; Unpaid)

Eighteen years ago, AKIRA opened the doors to its first women's clothing boutique in Chicago. Since then, the company has extended its reach to 30+ stores, as well as a thriving eCommerce business (shopAKIRA.com.) AKIRA is extremely well-poised for sustained growth as we continue to build a nationally recognized brand. AKIRA’s culture has one very large, distinct difference from other fast-fashion competitors: Other-Worldly Customer Service, and Fanatical, Obsessive Attention to the consumer’s needs and desires. The Role:

• Training will include using various social networks to create and publish content online for the shopAKIRA.com brand. You will assist in engaging with the community and industry influencers as well as occasionally assist with photoshoots and content creation. Further training will include extracting and analyzing data through Brand Analytic tools and Google Analytics.
• Daily posts and community interactions will be supervised. Direction will be given based on product needs, cross-promotional alignment with site & other social outlets, seasonal trends, etc.
• Work directly alongside shopAKIRA.com's Marketing Manager and Social Media Coordinator to create compelling content, take ownership of smaller social channels, assist with photoshoots, and do research on countless, various topics.
• Collaborate with marketing and production associates to ensure cohesiveness between social sites and shopAKIRA.com brand identity
• Stay current with fashion and lifestyle trends (duh!)

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college or university (this is an unpaid internship).
• Ability to work in-office up to 15 hours each week (typically schedules are 4-6 hours in office, 2-3x per week, for up to 3 months).
• Strong writing skills is an absolute must.
• Must have a genuine passion for fashion and an eye for styling.
• Be reliable. Show up on time. See the internship to completion.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and be accountable for your own work.
